The Wales rugby team has come alive in the past few years under the guidance of Mike Ruddock who led them to a grand slam victory in 2005. He resigned in 2006 for family reasons. After the World Cup in 2007, two world class coaches, Warren Gatland and Jonathan Edwards were apppointed. They secured a Grand Slam in 2008 and performed well in 2009 narrowly missing out to Ireland the eventual grand slam winners.
